Recategorising ALL THE Food

When we started the FODMAP app one of our guiding principles was to keep everything as simple as possible. In fact the question we asked over and over….. “Could our Mum’s use it?”

As part of this effort for simplification we kept the number of food types as low as possible. After a couple of months we added the Recipes and Store Cupboard types, but that was long ago now and here we are with several hundred more items in the app.  Our limited number of food types is really starting to make life difficult for us – and for you!

After much consideration we are planning to split “Grains & Nuts” across 2 new types, “Beans, Pulses and Nuts” and “Grains, Rices and Pastas”.  We also plan to re-clasify the items currently in “Ingredients” and “Store Cupboard”, feedback suggests these need cleaning up a little.

The final food types we will move forward with are:

  • Bakery
  • Beans, Pulses and Nuts
  • Dairy
  • Drinks
  • Fish
  • Fruit
  • Grains, Rice and Pastas
  • Ingredients
  • Meat
  • Recipes
  • Store Cupboard
  • Vegetables
